A Little Makeup Goes a Long Way

Whether you're a career gal, shop girl, entrepreneur or artist, I have one easy piece of advice that will allow you to make a good first impression professionally and personally: learn to apply a fresh face of makeup and do it everyday.  Not only do a few simple brushstrokes of makeup allow others to perceive you as a more caring and competent person, it will also help you to feel more confident, strong and attractive.

For example, take a look at this New York Times article about the power of cosmetics in a work environment.  Now, I encourage you to make a snap judgment- which of the four looks below strikes you as the most work-appropriate and competent?

According to a Boston-based study, participants saw the woman to be most professional and competent with natural beauty-enhancing makeup, as seen in the third photograph.

As I'm sure you're well aware, we all made some resolutions not too long ago.  If your goals for 2012 include finding a new job, getting a promotion, or making a concerted effort to take care of your physical appearance, I encourage you to be thoughtful about your makeup routine and adopt some simple beauty tricks to amplify your natural beauty so you're always sure to be putting your best face forward.  You'll be amazed at what a little concealer, bronzer, lipstick and mascara can do!
