Cane & Austin's Miracle

Cane & Austin’s Miracle Pads are here and the name couldn’t be any more perfect. These once a day wipes are just the thing for tightening the pores and minimizing fine lines. The secret is they contain 20% glycolic acid- it’s like a mini facial with one swipe! This is one of the highest concentrations of glycolic on the market and the result is fresh glowing skin each and every day you use them.

Glycolic Acid is a natural product that comes directly from sugar cane. Dermatologists use it to treat everything from aging skin to young acne prone skin. It is considered one of the best and most popular alpha hydroxyl acids on the market. The texturized Miracle Pads from Cane & Austin are a great option for at home treatment of your skin and we’re so excited to offer this product at Katrina Hess Makeup Studio.

Here comes the bride

Southern New England Weddings Destination magazine has just done a lovely spread on one of my lovely brides. The magazine featured Greg and Jessica's wedding at the TAJ Boston as one of their "Real Stories."

Boston has so many fabulous places to get married I always love to see it featured in bridal magazines.

Grab a copy of this months' Southern New England Weddings Destination magazine to see more images from this wedding that featured Jessica in a gown from Platinum Bridal Boutique, Mario Russo Salon hair, and, of course, makeup by Katrina Hess Studios!

Susan Wilson, House Historian

Congratulations to Susan Wilson on her new position as House Historian at Omni-Parker House. Susan is one of Boston’s leading photographers and she and I have done so many lovely weddings at Omni-Parker House.  The Omni-Parker House is Boston’s oldest continually running hotel and has been an important part of Boston’s history.

If you’re curious to learn more about Omni-Parker House’s role in the early days of Boston Susan has written a great book on the history of the hotel that is available online here at Amazon.com or in person at the Omni-Parker House. Or click here to go directly to Susan Wilson’s website.

Here Comes the Bride!

It’s always a thrill to be part of someone’s big day. This one was especially nice, from the blue and gold color scheme in honor of the groom’s Marine service to the fabulous location- the always lovely Omni-Parker House!

Bride’s always have such a glow about them. It’s important to enhance that natural beauty, making them perfectly picture ready, and not covering it up with a heavy cosmetic application.

Photos are by Jill Person from Person + Killian Photography. I love how Jill not only takes great shots of the wedding itself but also gets all those behind the scenes images that really capture all the memories from the big day.

Tropical Days and Tropical Nights

If you think you can’t wear bronzer, think again. Katrina Hess Studios has just gotten two great products from Kevyn Aucoin Beauty that are going to completely change how you think of bronzers.

Tropical Nights by Kevyn Aucoin has a lovely pink undertone- which is a very hard shade to find. If you’ve always felt like bronzers just don’t look quite right with your skin tone this one is probably the solution to your problems. Its sister shade is Kevyn Aucoin’s Tropical Days which is a wonderful traditional warm gold shade. Both keep their color beautifully with NO orange undertones. They are so silky and have such finely ground pigments they are completely weightless, won’t settle in to fine lines, and look very, very natural.

Subtle is really the word to think of with these products. You can see there's a slight ombre effect to the pigments in the compact, having this gradient color really gives nice highlighting. And both shades have just enough shimmer to give you a natural sun kissed glow. Of course, if you are totally new to bronzers and need a quick overview, or full makeover, Katrina Hess Studios is happy to book you an appointment and show you all the tips and tricks to using these great products.
